The Marine Corps Commandant's Professional Reading List (also known as the Marine Corps Reading List) is a list of required annual reading for all officer and enlisted Marines, whether active duty or reserve. Read Gen. Amos' message to Marines in CMC White Letter No. 4-12: Reading in the Marine Corps... "Thirty year old body and 5000 year old mind".
35th Commandant of the Marine Corps
General James F. Amos
Sergeants on Reading
Sergeants throughout the Marine Corps talk about their favorite reading list books, what they've learned from them, and how they applied this knowledge to their careers and life as Marines.
On 1 AUG 2014, Gen. Amos signed an updated and revised Leading Marines (MWCP 6-11). As a "CMC Choice" selection, ALL MARINES are tasked to read this book, as "leading Marines is the most important responsibility in our Corps, and thus we must educate the heart and mind to prevail on the battlefield and in the barracks, in war and in peace."
Marine Unit Libraries
The titles from the Commandant's Professional Reading List are available to unit leaders as part of the Marine Corps Association (MCA) Unit Commanders' Library Program. Request / ordering instructions are on the MCA website. More info in the PDF below.
