Battle Studies

The Archives and Special Collections Branch holds numerous collections related to the Marine Corps and specific battles or wars. The following finding aids highlight some of those collections, focusing on those that have notably unique content, are large in volume, or are regularly used by Branch patrons.

Archives collections can contain official Marine Corps records, documents, and publications; personal papers collections; audio-visual, materials, and maps. The personal papers collections can include those belonging to Marines such as the Commanding Generals of a division, as well as enlisted men’s papers and memoirs.

A finding aid does not cover every collection in the Archives' holdings related to a specific battle. It highlights select collections from which researchers may start to explore the materials that the Archives has available on the subject.
